All Belt workout held at Keyston Dojo on 04/15/2015

The All belt work out was on 4/15/2015.

 

It was held at the  Keystone dojo, Sensei Dean Lillie was host that evening.

There were 10 members in attendance.

The main kata for the night was Pinan Sandan.

Sensei Dean shared a little history in introducing the kata.

 

As a group everyone performed the kata.

 

Within this kata is up-down movement with body.  This is most notifiable with the 3rd sequence of movements: beginning with low block - high knife strike - pivoting 360 degrees to low position executing strike - to forward high position executing strike. 

When you practice this waza technique, recognize the up down movement.

 

A basic technique was practiced also by pivoting to the left-dropping into a lower position blocking and conter-striking.  Pivoting to the right- dropping into a lower position blocking and counter-striking.  This was practiced as an inside and outside techniques.  

 

There were through out the evening a number of questions and areas of discussion.  Much was learned and the information was shared by all.

  1. Prepare yourself by use of Visualization
  2. Block - Counter

  3. Awareness

  4.  Look towards the enemy

  5.  Pause between techniques

  6.  Do not rush through your Kata

  7.  Balance, speed, power

  8.  PRACTICE - PRACTICE - PRACTICE
