The MN Shuri-Te Association sponsored a seminar by Sensei Craig Leonard for all members on Saturday September 17, 2016. The seminar began with Mr. Leonard sharing his experience with Shuri-Te beginning with his ten year stay on the island of Okinawa. He began training with Sensei Nakamura in 1983. Once his military service concluded, he eventually found his way to the state of Washington. He has a dojo in the Seattle area and also teaches in Pullman. Mr. Leonard traveled much of Asia and studied Asian cultures.
The group first ran through Passai Sho together, then by the count with Sensei Leonard observing. Mr. Leonard reviewed four techniques from the opening move in Sho. The seminar closed with Mr. Leonard first demonstrating Passai Sho in a more deliberate fashion. He concluded with a real time demonstration of the kata for the group.
All in attendance had a great experience and most went out to eat after. Those in attendance at the seminar were:
Dean Lillie, Tom Schibilla, Jason Meyer, Ross Lund, Tom Lockhart, Al Asmus, Virgil Callin, Gerry Casey, Mike Fraser, and Tim Hughes.
